I failed all my 2022 Goals!

Okay my last blog post was about my 2022 goals. But that was only after 6 months, lets see what progress I made after one year! My next post will be for my 2023 goals.

My Long Term Goals

1. Become a Qualified Actuary

I passed both my April and September exams! Which means I now have 6 exam passes and 7 more left. So I’m about halfway through. The aim is to sit 4 next year (1 hard one and 3 easier ones), leaving just 3 hard ones to complete in 2024. Thus I am on track to qualify at the end of 2024! (I hope).

2. Save Over 75k for a Deposit

As I said previously if I concentrate on 1. then this goal will fall into place. Currently I’m well behind my goal of saving over 75k, right now it is around a fifth of this total. But if you factor in the downturn in the markets this is understandable. Can I make 75k in two years time? It will be difficult, but if I double my money next year and the year after I’ll be on 60k… so watch this space! Or rather you can take a look at my new investment strategy at sanjaypatelactuary.com.

3. Start Vlogging Weekly on YouTube

Okay I haven’t made any progress here. My kabaddi channel has taken a back step as I have now assumed the role of England Kabaddi Union president. If you want to know what that is, you can check out the website here: https://www.englandkabaddi.com/. Aside from this I have created a new tiktok and instagram channel which is titled sanjaypatelactuary, this is mostly giving investment advice but may transition into something else. This is part way to creating weekly content albeit not in YouTube format.

4. Take a Secondment Abroad, hopefully USA

I haven’t made any progress here either. In fact, I think priorities have shifted now as I am no longer single… Anyway I will have to think about this for a while for my next blog post which will be my 2023 goals.

5. Take up Boxing/Kickboxing and have my First Fight

Ah. First and foremost my aim here is to get much fitter. This has been somewhat hit and miss so far. I do wish to be as fit as I was when I was kickboxing regularly. Or rather practicing Muay Thai regularly.

My 2022 Goals

1. Pass 4/4 Actuarial Exams

I passed 2 out of 2 exams that I took. I was going to take 3 exams (decided in January 2022), but I deferred one to next year. So you could say this goal was a successful failure!

2. Get Promoted

My year end appraisal is scheduled for January with the outcome probably decided in February or March. So this is a case of watch this space.

3. Learn to Swim

I took 6 swimming lessons earlier in the year. The aim was to restart lessons in November but I missed the booking chance and then I didn’t book in December. So this is a fail, but I started at least.

4. Hit 65kg in Weight Again

So I started at 58kg I did reach the dizzying heights of 61kg. However I failed to reach 65kg! This was because of my lack of consistency in diet interwoven with illness.

5. Visit Scotland

I didn’t visit Scotland so this was a fail!

6. Cross 3 Countries on my Scratch Map

Okay here I only visited 2 new countries, Bangladesh and Croatia. So another successful failure!

7. Hit 1000 Subscribers on YouTube

Okay I started a YouTube channel but unfortunately I did not reach 1000 subscribers as I stopped uploading content. It was a good goal at the time but priorities shifted.

8. Read 10 More Books

Okay I read Rich Dad Poor Dad again, Atomic Habits, and I’m halfway through Miracle Morning. I also listened to diary of a CEO podcasts and I’m listening to the 4 hour work week. So its like a 4/10 here.

So I did not achieve any goals but I made some or little progress in many of them. I think the reason was, some of my priorities had shifted. Such as becoming president of England Kabaddi Union and creating a new venture (Sanjay Patel Actuary). My aim is to simplify and shorten my goals for next year.
